A business coaching company

So are you doing it, doing it…..doing it?

I applaud any person who starts their own small business. Hey, I did it many years ago, first in Germany and then in Miami, FL.

What I did not realize for many years was, that I just created a job for myself. Of course, I could do it better then my old boss. If he/she can do it…..so can I. If he/she can be successful with all the mistakes he/she is doing ……imagine how I can run my own business…..so much better.

Well …. so I thought.

Be Pro-Active

This is a guest post by Candace Harrison

With today’s economic challenges everyone is pinching pennies and cutting back. The first to get cut from the spending budget are nail technicians, cosmetologist, personal trainers, massage therapists and hair stylists to name a few. Often when these services are cut, it’s due to people not seeing the value in maintaining these services when money is a little “thin”.

Curiosity in Business and Life

Curiosity has been given a bad rap. Perhaps we grew up hearing that asking questions was rude or conveyed ignorance, or that we’d get into trouble if we were like Curious George. We might even have been warned that “Curiosity killed the cat!”

The truth is that curiosity is one of the most vital and life-affirming qualities you can bring to your life and your relationships.

The Gift of Giving

For  many cultures, the end of the year is a time to give gifts.  Have you ever wondered how to select gifts  that have an ongoing positive impact? Positive psychology, the empirical study  of what makes people thrive, gives important insights.  Martin Seligman, one of the leaders in the  field and the author of Authentic Happiness, suggests that there are three  parts to a happy life, The Pleasant Life, The Engaged Life, and The Meaningful  Life.  Thus, we can give gifts that give  pleasure, that absorb attention, or that help people live in service of  something larger than themselves.

Do you believe in Angels

As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children an untruth. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However, that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.

The Importance of Consistency

Here’s a truism to remember: rules and guidelines are meaningful only when they are followed…when they are enforced. So, when it comes to setting boundaries, stating your expectations of employees is only half the battle. The other half involves “delivering” on what you tell employees to expect from you. You must walk the talk. And the key to doing that is consistency – holding ALL the people accountable for following ALL the rules (boundaries), ALL the time.

A Mothers Love

A little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on. After his Mom dried her hands on an apron, she read it, and this is what it said:

For cutting the grass: $5.00
For cleaning up my room this week: $1.00
For going to the store for you: $.50
Baby-sitting my kid brother while you went shopping: $.25
Taking out the garbage: $1.00
For getting a good report card: $5.00
For cleaning up and raking the yard: $2.00
Total owed: $14.75

Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could see the memories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper he’d written on, and this is what she wrote:
